Recap

Blackburn United 0
Dundonald Bluebell 2 (Sibanda 30mins, Gay 90mins)

Nineteen minutes had elapsed before the first serious pop at goal materialised and it was United’s David Howe who dragged the ball from left to right along the eighteen yard box before hitting a shot that flew over the junction of the left hand post and crossbar. Richie Hutton then got in behind on the right but his square ball was cleared, but only as far as Howe who clipped an effort wide. However, it was the visitors who were to prove more accurate in front of goal when their opportunity arrived, SIBANDA rising highest to nod Carstairs corner from the left past Craig Saunders. Cargill then then hit a dipping shot just high and wide as the ‘Bell started to impose themselves and Jack Smith also came close before the interval, curling Cargill’s pass just over.

The resumption saw Dundonald continue in the ascendency and from around the penalty spot Cargill went close with a snap shot before Blackburn too came close, Marcus Millar heading down a Howe free-kick that Laurie Devine got to only to see his shot blocked. The ‘Bell then came closer still when they hit the bar on their next attack McKenzie smacking the woodwork from a Cargill lay-off. Sibanda almost doubled his and his teams goal tally with less than twenty minutes remaining but his shot lacked for power before Darren Gribben almost equalised for United but his shot was blocked by Wilson. With Blackburn throwing everything at it in pursuit of an equaliser the visitors put the game beyond reach in the final minute when a quick break saw GAY afforded the time to arrow a low one into the bottom right hand corner of Saunders net.
