East of Scotland Premier League – Saturday 8th October 2022
Hill of Beath Hawthorn 6 Allum 42, Connelly 46, Millar OG 49, Payne 74 & 79, Kellichan 85
Blackburn United 1 Millar 90+2
The home side opened strongly with Jakub Welna pulling off a good save to deny Ross Allum and tipping over an effort from Calum Adamson. Burnie had their chances with a Scott Richards header from a Hutton free kick being blocked by Stuart Hall and scrambled away, before Richards again had an effort which this time Hall gathered. Ryan Connelly then had an effort blocked by Welna, and up the other end Hutton fired just over. With three minutes remaining in the half, the home side opened the scoring when a cross into the box evaded everyone except Ross Allum who stabbed in at the back post. Hutton was then set free with the last attack of the half but Smith blocked his effort.
The second half started disastrously when straight from the kick-off a Lyle Kellichan cross in the box was met by Ryan Connelly in acres of space to head beyond Welna. Three minutes later another cross into the box was diverted beyond Welna by Marcus Millar.
It was largely one-way traffic and sub Lewis Payne grabber a quick fire double with a quarter of the game left before Lyle Kellichan scored another from a corner with five minutes remaining. There was still time for Marcus Millar to make amends for his OG by stabbing the ball into the net from close range. A second half to forget.
