Preston Athletic 2 Devlin 66 (pen) & 78
Blackburn United 3 Heath 61 & 86, Thomas 70
A fairly even first half ended goalless but the game cam alive in the second period after a number of changes had been made.
On the hour mark Sam Thomas collected the ball and beat two covering defenders on the left byeline before squaring the ball across the 6 yards box for Calum Heath to get on the end of and fire high into the net.
The lead lasted only five minutes when Preston won what looked like a soft penalty, and Jamie Devlin converted. However four minutes after that, Michael Gould and Fraser Cormack combined on the left before feeding the ball into Thomas inside the area, he was closely marked but managed to trick his way past his markers and stab the ball beyond the keeper.
Parity was restored on 78 minutes when Devlin curled a lovely 20 yard free-kick beyond Welna, but the winner came with a few minutes left when Kyle McClung swung in a first time cross again from the left and Calum Heath got up to challenge the keeper with a header, and the ball fell to his feet to score from close range.
