Football returns!

Blackburn United 4 Bathgate Thistle 1

Football returns 189 days after our last match in the abandoned 2019-20 season.

In our first in a series of behind closed door friendlies, we eased to a comfortable win against local Junior club Bathgate Thistle. After a McLeod missed penalty, the visitors went ahead on 39 minutes, but debutant Kriss Goss equalised two minutes later to send the sides in even at the break.

Second half saw a much more dominant display along with a flurry of substituations. James Mildren came off the bench to give us the lead on 54 minutes, Danny Campbell struck on 78 minues and a David Howe strike four minutes from the end sealed the win.

Line up: Craig Saunders, Kieren Welsh (James Mildren 45), Reece Boyle (Darren McIntosh 62), John Drummond (Lewis Alexander 62), David Taylor, Dominic Kane (Michael Browne 45), Laurie Devine (David Howe 57), Stuart McLeod (Callum McDowell 57), Kriss Goss (Richie Hutton 45), Danny Campbell, Darren Dalrymple.

Next Saturday sees us host Stoneyburn Juniors, again behind closed doors. Hopefully we will be able to welcome fans back through the gates soon when Government policy changes to allow that to happen.

The U20’s will also be staging a series of closed door games in the coming weeks. News when they happen.
